Cooroy's Tadpoles provide hope for Little Penguins

The children in the 'Dolphin' Room at Tadpoles Early Learning Centres, Cooroy are celebrating the arrival of their fluffy Penguin Buddy.

The children's carer, Ms Wendy Scott, says the class has had many discussions about penguins and their habitat.

"The children have made penguins to decorate our room and to begin our Backyard Buddies information display. With the plush penguin provided as part of the adoption we are going to take turns in taking the penguin home for sleepovers and recording its many adventures. We will have continued conversations as to how we can all become Backyard Buddies and taking care of those we find in our environment," she says.

An investment in hope

It’s the little things you do that lead to great things. Any funds you can give to help your environment today are funds that protect Australia and offer hope for our native animals tomorrow. Did you qualify for any of the government’s $900 tax stimulus? Just a portion of that can give our native animals a hand.

Sound approach to wildlife research

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife is backing a pioneering project that employs sound to protect threatened fauna along the NSW coast. By using automated electronic acoustic monitoring devices (AEAMD), scientists can record the unique calls of threatened species at Barren Grounds, Budderoo, Jervis Bay and Nadgee.
