TALKING PAWS

Dear Parks and Wildlife Supporter,

It is with pleasure and pride that I write the forward to this Winter 2006 Paws Newsletter. I am writing as a member of the Projects Committee to explain how it works and who gets the money you all so generously have donated and hopefully will continue to do.

We have a Committee of three who meet four or more times a year to review the projects put forward to us. The proposals are put forward mainly by Parks employees but sometimes by outside groups or individuals, which should be encouraged. The Committee members individually score each project under a number of criteria and then they are each rated with an overall score, and added to the list of unfunded projects. As funds become available they are allocated to the highest scoring project.

My particular interest is birds, which brings me to this issue of Paws, which has a preponderance of articles on birds including one about a wonderful new poster of Woodland Birds which is available to all.

I hope you all enjoy this issue and keep the projects coming for the Committee to evaluate.
