Your support of the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife over the past 40 years has added more than 360,000 hectares to grow 30 national parks. Together we believe that public ownership is the best way to ensure our land is protected for future generations to visit and enjoy.
You share our love of nature and the good feelings it gives you. We all recognise the need to get a “breath of fresh air” to escape the daily rat race of urban living and for children to discover the wonders of the natural world. Expanding our national reserve system gives you more of the things you love. More opportunities to take a weekend escape, go for a bush walk, spot a bird or two or just relax.
The Foundation supports the public estate and we plan on continuing to grow our reserve system for the benefit of biodiversity. We will continue to purchase land for conservation until we have protected each of our nation’s 80 bioregions. We are the only organisation whose philanthropy is an investment in your public estate, for all to enjoy.
Australia’s National Parks are our nation’s gems. National parks are conservation islands in a transformed, ripped up and replanted matrix. Increasing their size and creating new parks means that these island sanctuaries become less isolated helping to create connections across the landscape.
