The wilderness of Washpool National Park

78 km east of Glen Innes and 93 km west of Grafton

Washpool National Park is known for its dramatic landscape of steep-sided valleys, broad ridges and forested escarpments with an altitude range from less than 200 m to 1490 m. It is part of the World Heritage listed Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia (CERRA). Its ancient and isolated rainforests are home to a great variety of plants and animals.

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife acquired 1,191 ha of wilderness land near Tenterfield for Washpool National Park, enabling dedication of around 150 hectares of identified wilderness.
