A philanthropic based organisation, the Foundation’s charter and policies guarantee that 100 per cent of all donations go towards actual causes. While donors are able to choose specific causes, funds only go to those projects that have a tangible conservation outcome (eg. projects recommended by the NSW Scientific Committee).

Dunphy Wilderness Fund

A statutory fund established by the NSW state government to purchase wilderness land for national parks. The fund is managed by a reference group comprising NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service, the National Parks Association, the Colong Foundation for Wilderness and the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife

Mission statement

Securing in perpetuity wilderness land within the NSW National Parks system.

Main strategies

Government appropriation of taxes on an ad hoc basis to purchase wilderness land for addition to the national parks system, fundraising and awareness raising for wilderness

So far, the program has purchased 32 properties totalling 38,000 hectares in areas including the

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife raised over $1.3 million for land purchases for the Dunphy Wilderness Fund.
