Wild Christmas for Green Gully
by Leonie Gale

Christmas time provided presents for wildlife supporters and wildlife alike with the Green Gully Christmas raffle raising $12,000 and sending 32 prizes out to lucky winners. Sponsored prizes went out the door for pre-Christmas delivery - everything from a stereo unit to a map compass to destinations all over NSW and even to London!

Nathan Garvey from the University of New South Wales was responsible for rounding up the prizes with wild donations from Australian Geographic, NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service, Ian Hutton, Colong Foundation for Wilderness, Paddy Pallin, Calga Springs Sanctuary, the Australian Museum, WWF Australia and Avid Outdoor.

The festive season weather was also kind, providing much needed rain for the Apsley and Yarrowitch Rivers and for Green Gully itself, and no fires.

Thanks to our supporters who bought raffle tickets and gave donations. With your help we have bought a further 120 hectares of wilderness for the Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies.

25 Hectares of Green Gully Protected by Bill Peach Tours

The Bill Peach Tours Adventure route

In September 2003 five Foundation supporters joined Bill Peach Journeys to discover the wild places of Australia. The travellers flew via private jet from Katherine Gorge to the Kimberleys, on to Uluru, to Kakadu, and on to Seven Spirit Bay Wilderness Lodge on the Cobourg Peninsula with the best of accommodation, food and tour guides.

This exclusive departure raised valuable funds in support of the Green Gully wilderness appeal, purchasing 25 hectares.
