WEEDING IN PARADISE
or There’s no one home at the Foundation
By Leonie Gale

Memorable and rewarding are two words to describe the best holidays I’ve ever had weeding in paradise. The magic of Lord Howe Island and its rugged, natural beauty, the inspiring lectures by Ian Hutton in the evenings, sunset over the pristine lagoon, fish feeding at Ned's Beach, afternoon treks through "lost world" vegetation and the hospitality of Pinetrees. All this, plus the most giant piles of dead climbing asparagus (Protasparagus plumosus) and ground asparagus (Protosparagus aethiopicus) and Pittosporum undulatum that the Island's ever seen.
